Usage Guide: Earn Leave Calculator
Purpose
This tool is used to calculate prorated annual leave, rounded monthly based on the joining date and the entitled annual leave.
Steps to Access the Earn Leave Calculator:
- Click on System Setting
- Click on Leave
- Under the Leave Policy section, select Annual Leave
- Then click on Details
- The *Earn Leave Calculator* screen will be displayed

Steps for Usage
1. Enter Basic Information
- Annual Leave: Enter the entitled annual leave (e.g., 20 days)
- Joining Month: Select the month of joining (e.g., January)
- Method of Rounding: Choose the appropriate rounding method
2. Choose Rounding Method
There are two rounding categories:
🔹 *Rounding according to Employment Act*
- Round up if the decimal value ≥ 0.49
- Example: 1.67 → 2, 6.68 → 7
- Suitable for compliance with the Employment Act 1955
🔹 *Custom Rounding Options*
Option | Rounding Effect |
|---|---|
Round to 0 | No rounding. Value remains in decimal form |
Round to 0.5 | Rounded to the nearest 0.5. Example: 1.67 → 1.5 |
Round to 1 | Rounded to the nearest whole number. Example: 1.67 → 2 |

Usage Tips
- Use Employment Act Rounding for leave that will be entered into the official payroll system
- Use Custom Rounding for simulations, audits, or internal reports
- Ensure leave values are rounded before using them in payroll or leave balance calculations
